Membership FAQ
We welcome anyone who shares our passion for sales and marketing to our ranks – whether you work in sales, marketing or purchasing, or if you are an entrepreneur or a student.
Switching to MMA from another union or unemployment fund is likely easier than you think! You don’t need to worry about losing any membership fees you’ve already paid or having your unemployment security interrupted.
You can authorize us to handle your resignation from your previous union or fund on your behalf. You can give this authorization on the membership application form. If you prefer to resign from your old union or fund yourself, submit your resignation only after you have received confirmation of your new MMA membership. Your membership with MMA will begin on the day we receive your application, unless you choose a later start date on the form.
Please remember that your membership fees to your previous union or fund must be paid up to the date of resignation. This ensures that both your membership and your earnings-related unemployment security continue without interruption.
You may be a member of MMA and another union at the same time, provided the other union’s rules allow it.
However, you can only be a member of one unemployment fund at a time. You can join MMA without joining an unemployment fund if you wish to remain a member of your current fund.
If you are currently unemployed or laid off, please read the answer to the next question. 👇
Yes, you can join MMA or switch unions even while you are unemployed or laid off, and you will still have access to all our member benefits. However, you must be careful with unemployment fund membership, as you cannot switch funds while unemployed or laid off.
If you are currently a member of the KOKO fund through another union, you can switch unions to MMA during unemployment or layoff without any interruption to your daily allowance. In this case, first contact KOKO’s customer service via eAsiointi. They will monitor your situation and ensure that your earnings-related unemployment security continues without interruption during the switch. Please note that there may be a slight delay in benefit payments due to the change.
Once KOKO confirms that your situation is being monitored, you may join MMA and authorize us to handle your resignation from your previous union. You can give this authorization on the membership application form. If you prefer to resign from your current union yourself, submit your resignation only after receiving confirmation of your new MMA membership. Please also remember that your membership fees to your previous union or fund must be paid up to the date of resignation. This ensures your membership and unemployment security continue seamlessly.
If you are currently a direct member of KOKO, you can join MMA without joining an unemployment fund, or you can link your existing KOKO membership to your MMA membership. In that case, we will invoice both the fund and MMA membership fees together.
If you are currently a member of any unemployment fund other than KOKO, you can join MMA during unemployment or layoff without joining an unemployment fund.
If you are unsure how to proceed in your situation, our member services team will be happy to help. Please contact us »
Also note that after more than three (3) months of unemployment or layoff during the current calendar year, you are eligible to apply for a 40% discount on your membership fee. Read more about membership fee discounts above on this same page.
Yes and no! You may be a member of other unions in addition to MMA, as long as their rules also allow it. However, you can only be a member of one unemployment fund at a time.
As an entrepreneur, you cannot be a member of the KOKO unemployment fund. But worry not! Instead, we recommend you to join the unemployment fund for entrepreneurs in addition to our membership.
You will receive a confirmation message at the email address you provided once your application has been processed and your membership has been approved. Your MMA membership will start on the day we receive your application, unless you selected a later start date on the application form. Membership cannot be granted retroactively.
Almost all member benefits and services become available to you immediately after this confirmation. The exceptions are:
Legal protection, which becomes valid for new employed and self-employed members after six (6) months of membership.
Earnings-related unemployment security paid by the unemployment fund, which becomes valid once the statutory employment and membership conditions are met, if you have also joined the fund through us. You can read more about the current conditions on KOKO’s website »
For an employed member with KOKO unemployment fund membership, the membership fee in 2025 consists as follows:
29,75 €/month MMA membership
+ 5,25 €/month KOKO fund membership
= 35,00 €/month
= 420,00 €/year
You can either pay the membership fee in one or four installments per year, and you can change the amount of installments any time. Choose
an environmentally friendly e-invoice or a digital invoice sent by email as your invoicing method.
You need to make an invoicing agreement in your own online bank. Search the list of billers for “Myynnin ja markkinoinnin ammattilaiset MMA” with the company ID 0202232-6 or with the account number FI86 8443 2710 0851 47. Make sure that the subject of the invoice is the MMA membership fee.
You will also need an invoice reference number which you can find in your previous invoices or in the membership fee information section of the Oma MMA service. After switching to e-invoicing, all our subsequent invoices will come directly to your online bank, but you must pay invoices that are already due in the old way.
Our membership fees are paid by the members themselves. We do not use employer collection, which means your employer cannot pay membership fees on your behalf without tax consequences.
You do have to pay your membership fee during unemployment or lay-offs. However, you can apply for a membership fee discount due to these reasons. Application can be done throughOma MMA service or by contacting ourmember services.
The applicant for the discount must have an unemployment or layoff period of at least 3 months. The discount is not granted in advance, for example
immediately after unemployment begins, because the period of unemployment cannot be estimated in advance. The discount is 40 % of our membership fee and is calculated retroactively from the membership fee for the entire calendar year.
You can end your membership by filling out a termination notice through our member services. Membership fees will be billed for until the resignation date and you cannot terminate your membership retroactively.
