MMA’s pay rise recommendation for 2026 is 2.9 percent

MMA recommends a pay rise of 2.9 percent for its members who work outside the scope of collective agreements. The recommendation is based both on protecting purchasing power and on the general pay increase line agreed in the labour market.

In many sectors, pay rises are settling at around 2–3 percent, and real earnings are forecast to return to moderate growth. The recommendation gives members a concrete basis for salary discussions in situations where general increases have not been defined.

For those working outside collective agreements, pay rises are not automatic — they are agreed separately. This makes it important to actively monitor one’s own salary development and to raise the topic in conversations with employers.

”Even in tough and uncertain times, it is worth keeping the salary conversation on the table regularly. This recommendation provides strong support for your own arguments and helps you prepare for negotiations,” says Marko Hovinmäki, Chairman of MMA.

MMA encourages its members to make active use of the recommendation as part of their own salary discussions. It provides a frame of reference for assessing pay levels and supports the case for individual negotiation.

”The development of your expertise, the demands of your role and any increase in responsibilities are key factors when making the case for a pay rise. These are worth highlighting in salary discussions,” Hovinmäki reminds members.

Sales and marketing professionals are skilled negotiators when it comes to their own pay, too. It is also in the employer’s interest to retain talented employees by offering competitive salaries and terms of employment.

MMA offers its members a wide range of support for pay negotiations and career development. The annual salary survey helps members understand what a fair pay level looks like and provides a strong foundation for their own arguments.

MMA also encourages members to make use of its expert services with a low threshold — especially when negotiating an employment contract — so that salary development and the basis for it are clearly agreed at the contracting stage.

Members have access to a salary tracker in the Oma MMA service, with data based on the latest research into pay in our fields. It can be used to assess whether your salary is keeping pace, and to prepare more effectively for salary discussions. The tracker has been updated with the figures from the salary survey conducted at the start of the year.

Currently, the salary tracker (Palkkatutka) is only available in Finnish. However, you can book a personal salary counselling session in English with our expert, Samuli Myllyharju.
